Special Inspections and Testing

In addition to the inspections required by Section 108 of the 2007 California Building Code, the owner or the engineer or architect of record acting as the owner's agent shall employ one or more special inspectors who shall provide inspections during construction on the types of work listed under Section 1704.

In order to expedite this process the City has developed both a list of approved recognized testing agencies and a Structural Tests and Inspections Schedule form. The list of recognized inspection and testing agencies and the two part Structural Tests and Inspections Schedule form are available by clicking on the designated links below. Sign the completed forms and return to the Building Inspection Division.

Building permits requiring special inspection either under the requirements of Section 1704, the Building Official, or the owner and/or the engineer of record will not be issued without the completed Structural Tests and Inspections Schedule form.

Should you have any questions regarding either the requirements for special inspection or the form contact the Building Inspection Division at (650) 903-6313.
