You can help people; do community service; meet new people; learn skills; get school credit; influence others; build self confidence, and feel needed.
The City of Mountain View Public Library is looking for detail oriented, self-motivated individuals 13 years of age and older with a perfectionist's mentality to volunteer in Children's Services for 2-10 hours per week. Applicants should be enthusiastic and eager to learn; responsible and punctual; respectful and considerate; and open to taking on new tasks.
Volunteers will be asked to:
- put books in alphabetical or numerical order
- help prepare materials for children's programs
- shelf-read collections in Children's Services to make sure that books are in order
- organize and shelve magazines, videos, dvd's cd's, cassettes, etc.
- be ready to perform other tasks as assigned.
Volunteers in Support Services will be asked to:
- mend, repair, and clean books and other circulating materials
- replace booster tags on CDs
- produce duplicate barcodes for circulating materials
- maintain collection of gift books.
The applicants should be:
- detail oriented and focused
- responsible and punctual
- equipped with good manual dexterity.
