MVPD takes pride in police professionalism and accomplishments, both large and small.
Distinguished Service Medals In May 2003, four of our officers received Distinguished Service Medals for demonstrating bravery in the apprehension of suspects who robbed two local establishments. Unknown at the time, one of the suspects was wanted for the murder of a Burlingame bank manager. During the pursuit, this suspect shot through Officer Cary Shueh's windshield, injuring him in the face. MVPD also awarded Officer Shueh a Purple Heart and named him Officer of the Year.
Community Feedback We appreciate feedback from our community. Besides helping us to improve, it allows us to recognize our successes.
"On behalf of all our staff, I would like to commend the Mountain View Police Department's arresting officer, Officer Egan, for his professionalism and expedient efficiency in capturing one suspected intruder during a break-in at Franciscan Glass. Thanks for a job very well done!" Larry Williams, Vice President, Sonitrol Security
"Last night we heard gun shots... and we called you at 9-1-1. I have never been treated so kindly! The voice I heard (Annie Lohman) gave me full attention, asked most relevant questions, and then said 'We're on our way.' You give such heart-felt care. Thank you especially for your fear-removing voice." Sandra Gordon, Mountain View Resident
"Sergeant Hsiung has an unusual capacity for listening to students, understanding what they are saying, and responding directly and insightfully. Over the years, I have invited about a dozen police officers to meet with my class. Sgt Hsiung is the most articulate of all of them." Professor George Fisher, Stanford Law School
"I did not come to a full stop and I was pulled over. Despite my anxious and tearful emotional state, Officer Canfield remained calm, patient, and helpful. I appreciated his professionalism and kindness. He was sympathetic and understanding towards my maternal concern, but he had a job to do and he remained professional and polite." Cindy Sue, Mountain View Resident
"I want to thank you for the assistance your officers have provided us... throughout the years. Our officers truly believe your department can be counted on to help in a time of need." Patrick Dwyer, Interim Director, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety
